// privacy
alcan.me stores nothing on your device. No cookies, no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no fingerprinting, no third-party embeds. There is no analytics service, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no cross-site tracking.
what is collected
The homepage shows a view and visitor count. Each page load sends your IP address and user-agent to a small server of mine, which combines them with the current date and a secret salt and keeps only the hash. The hashes go into an aggregate structure that records how many, not which; individual visits cannot be recovered from it. Because the date is part of the input, the figure counts distinct visitor-days rather than distinct people.
The same server keeps a short-lived request tally to prevent abuse. That key is also a salted hash, and expires one hour after the first request in a window.
weather and trains
The Dublin weather and next-train cards are fetched by my servers, not your browser. Open-Meteo and Irish Rail see my infrastructure, never your IP address.
processors
Cloudflare serves the site and runs the servers behind it, processing connection data including IP addresses in order to deliver pages and absorb attacks. Upstash stores the counters, in a database located in AWS eu-west-1, Ireland.
Nothing leaves the EU. Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile.
lawful basis
Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f): knowing roughly how many people read a personal site, and keeping it from being knocked over.
your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Ireland that is the Data Protection Commission.
contact
The data controller is Alcan Sng, Dublin, Ireland. Questions to alcan@aftersunweddings.com.
